Conventional wheelchairs do not work due to rough and wet terrain and climate. Unfortunately, due to political circumstances and the difficulty of doing development work in Kenya, the project was stopped.

Mr. Suggitt is looking for people to either help with the prototype design or to help with restarting the project, or to at least get some direction as to which individuals or organizations to contact regarding this project.

Two and a half years later, George is the co-CEO of Engineers Without Borders. He frequently gives talks at universities, conferences and to professional organizations across Canada and the United States. For his work with EWB, George has won awards from the Canadian Bureau for International Education (2002), the University of Waterloo (2000) and the City of Waterloo (2000). EWB/EUSS Lan Party

Date: Thursday - Friday, February 13 - 14, 2004
Time: 6:30pm - 12:00pm
Location: ASB 9896

Whether you believe it or not, there are a lot of geeks in engineering. We've all seen the comp sci guys do LAN parties, but honestly they're less than superb at it. With funding from the SFSS the EUSS and Engineers Without Borders will be co-hosting a LAN Party with FREE PIZZA, POP AND SNACKS this Friday and Saturday! Drawing on the experience from hosting over ten LANs as well as helping to organize BC's biggest LAN, Fragmart, the EUSS/EWB LAN party will be a ton of fun. In addition, we've secured two AMD 1.6GHz dedicated servers and a quarter of a terabyte of storage space to ensure our LAN runs smoothly.

The entry fee and food is free, but a donation of $5 or more would be greatly appreciated.

What Games will be played? We don't have any preference on the games played so what we play is up to you! There will definitely be a 1v1 Warcraft III Tournament and the servers will have Half-Life dedicated server and Battlefield 1942 dedicated server installed. We'll be bringing all the demos we can find.

What to bring: a computer (PC or laptop), monitor, keyboard, mouse, power bar, network cable, CDs for any games you want to play, headphones (no speakers)
If you have never heard of a LAN party, the basic concept is that a group of people get together, bring their computers, hook them up to a network and game all night. A PS2 will also be available for play on the projector if you don't have a computer.

Bush, Tony Blair and Jean Chrétien among them - experienced “HIVpositive: AIDS Through a New Lens”.

We had many people stop by on campus to look at our display in between classes and watch the CBC documentary about the AIDS situation. We also got the attention and support of numerous shoppers at Metrotown, a few who were willing to buy a postcard or make a donation. Thanks to all your support!

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Society of Greater Vancouver is an inclusive, non-profit organization seeking to eliminate poverty housing in the Greater Vancouver region. EWB-SFU and EWB-UBC recently sent numerous volunteers to assist in the construction of homes in the Burnaby area. The day started bright and early, with SFU and UBC students converging at the Burnaby construction site. Some of the work done by our volunteers included the installation of basement vapour barriers, the construction of a patio for the volunteer office, and the transport of materials at the build site. The work was hard, but it was a very worthwhile cause and the volunteers had a good time.
